Monts Jura Ski Resort

#BlownAway by the highest summits of the Jura Mountains!

Présentation

A breath-taking view! And just as exhilarating in summer as in winter. Picture yourself in one of the lodges looking out over Lake Geneva down below and the Alps high above. Whether you’ll be donning your skis or lacing up your walking boots, pulling yourself away from a view like that is not easy! Professional athletes and champions of the Alpine Ski World Cup often come to Monts Jura to train, but the resort also caters for families and Nordic skiers. Don’t miss this top destination!

A protected resort with 4 distinct ski areas

Monts Jura is much more than your standard ski resort, with 4 villages and as many skiing areas: Mijoux, Lelex, Crozet and Menthières (Chézery-Forens). Three of these sites offer downhill skiing and make up a total of 37 miles (60km) of pistes, including 30 hectares of artificial snow. North of Col de la Faucille, in Vattay, the 4th ski area is reserved for Nordic skiing with 100 miles (160km) of trails for both classic cross-country skiing and skate skiing. One of the region’s unmissable stops!

Monts Jura doesn’t frighten us! The best Alpine skiers from across France come here regularly to measure each other up on the resort’s Piste des Rhodos! And every single time, thousands of spectators come to watch the world’s top 200 Downhill and Slalom competitors tackle the slope.

Without forgetting families of course! Families make up the majority of visitors to the ski resort, who come here to appreciate the wide range of activities on offer in a fun and safe environment, with competitive prices to boot!

Summer in the great outdoors provides a welcome breath of fresh air!

If you’re keen on hiking, the aptly named Lake Geneva Balcony trek (Balcon du Léman) is a must! This Grand Randonnée footpath offers its finest views where it crosses the highest summits of the Montagnes du Jura, just above the resort, looking down over Lake Geneva. In summer, hiking is one of the most popular activities in Monts Jura, and rightly so. Mountain biking, summer tobogganing, golf and even paragliding are just some of the other outdoor activities on offer. That goes to show that winter is by no means the only season in this protected resort, part of the Haute Chaîne du Jura Nature Reserve. Do you need another excuse to escape to nature?

The mountains here are like nowhere else!

With the Montagnes du Jura comes a wealth of culture and natural heritage that only adds further to the unique charm of the area. You can’t miss it as should you step into the cheese shop in Chézery-Forens to buy some Comté or Bleu-de-Gex, or visit the Fine Gemstone Museum in Mijoux. Below in the valley, the Valserine River, the first to be protected under the Wild Rivers program, holds many more surprises waiting to be discovered…

“Off the beaten track”

“A little-known ski resort in the Jura – beautiful views, very accessible. Lots of blue and green runs, perfect for beginners or leisurely skiers. Food not expensive in comparison to some Alps resorts, parking usually easy.” – Reviewed 19th March 2013 by Arthur654
