Albarine Valley: Thrill Valley

#MomentOfExhilaration – soaring above the sheer cliffs, gorges and falls of Albarine Valley!

Présentation

Mountain streams, limestone cliffs, gorges and waterfalls… the mood is vertical above Chaley and Saint-Rambert-en-Bugey. The sun sets a little later over Hostiaz so that you can really appreciate your well-deserved apéritif after all the excitement of the Guinguette Via Ferrata!

Sheer cliffs

Albarine Valley doesn’t do things by half. Hanging several hundred metres above the river, the 650m-long via ferrata route is not for the faint-hearted. In terms of thrills however, you certainly get your fill – especially on the hanging footbridge!

Here, the limestone rock is of an excellent quality – not surprising then that the region’s climbers soon mapped out some stunning routes. Some of them are 30m high, such as at Roche de Narse, with difficulties reaching 7a on Hostiaz rock face!

Not short of hair-raising activities, you can also try out canyoning here through Chaley Gorge from April to October. Set off for 2 fun-packed hours of jumping into pools, scrambling over rocks and sliding down natural falls. Freshness and thrills guaranteed!

Want to go higher? Head to the take-off points in Evosges or Torcieu, where avid paragliders look out for the best thermals for a spectacular and exhilarating flight!

World-class river fishing

Albarine River offers over 17km of fishing routes of the highest order. With crystal-clear waters reminiscent of the Jura Mountains, this world-class fishing destination is one of the most sought-after spots in Ain. Fishing enthusiasts gather here to fish for trout and grayling or at the lake in Cluse des Hôpitaux, the kingdom of pike, tenches, perches and bream. Such diversity is rare, and draws in the keenest of anglers.
