La Fruitière du Valromey - production de Comté
Open today
Présentation
Located at the foot of the mythical Col du Grand Colombier, the Fruitière du Valromey has 14 farms and produces 300 tonnes of Comté, the equivalent of 3 million litres of milk.
The Fruitière du Valromey offers Comté, tomme, raclette, butter, cream and fromage blanc.
It is equipped with a visit area explaining the making of Comté cheese, an exhibition room and a shop selling local products.
The other 2 million litres of milk are used to make diversified cheeses (raw milk raclette, mountain tomme, etc.), white cheeses, butter and cream. Part of the production will be labelled organic
From the birth of the project to create a Comté cheese dairy launched in 2017 by the Valromey Dairy Farmers' Union, through the creation of the Valromey dairy cooperative in 2018, to the laying of the first stone, the farmers have committed themselves to this ambitious project, a real economic tool for an entire quality breeding sector and which also allows the development of short circuits.
The refiner chosen by the breeders' cooperative is the Seignemartin company in Nantua (purchase of white Comté cheese wheels).
Products to be found in the following shops:
Carrefour Contact in Artemare (Comté, raclette, butter and white cheeses)
Boucherie Monavon in Champagne en Valromey (butter)
Products to be found in the following restaurants
Les Caudalies in Artemare (butter)
O Saisons du Grand Colombier in Virieu le Petit
Orders can be placed on the online shop. Delivery possible via Chronofresh.
