The Miniature Railway Museum

#MagicalMoment!

Feeling like a child again and finding yourself in awe at the intricate detail and creativity of the artist’s work. A museum which comes to life – you don’t see that every day!

Présentation

Scale modelling at the heart of the Dombes – the Miniature Railway Museum will immerse you in an animated world full of poetry and realistic scenes depicting everyday life, all built with passion by one man.

1km of tracks and dreams

30 trains, 400 carriages and thousands of characters bring the Alps, Provence, Lyon and the former train station Brotteaux to life before your eyes. Everyday scenes have been beautifully recreated with a touch of poetry and humour in astonishing detail. One kilometre of model railway tracks will take you on an adventure through hundreds of kilometres of typical French landscapes! The Museum will take you on a journey and leave you in wonder, no matter what your age!

One of the most beautiful miniature displays in France!

If you enjoyed Mini World in Lyon, you’ll love the Miniature Railway Museum – a world where passion, imagination and humour combine! Patrick Crolle, the sole creator of this miniature world, began building his model railway back in the 80s and, after thousands and thousands of hours working on his creation, opened his own museum in 2000. Patrick meticulously reconstructed all of the different scenes that the train passes through, embellishing everyday moments with a touch of his imagination.

The museum is situated in the medieval town of Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne, just opposite the listed marketplace.

“Something to do as a family… or on your own!”

“A really beautiful museum built in its entirety by the owner. Perfectly detailed models which will leave both the young and the old in wonder. Not to be missed!” – Reviewed 2nd June 2017 by MartialMARTIN (translated from French)

“Rediscover your childhood”

“It’s quite small, hidden behind the market place (which is worth a visit incidentally), but it’s well worth the detour. There’s a place to park just in front of the museum. As a family or just for fun, it’s really worth seeing. The models are well-built and they’ll take you back to your childhood… plus it’s great fun for the kids.” – Reviewed 16th May 2017 by speedplus01 (translated from French)
