Theatre: Chasing ghosts
Présentation
This play tells the story of a love story, of a couple ready to brave all borders.
It's a love story between a white woman and a black man. He comes from far away, she comes from here. It's the same love story for him and her, and a totally different one for her.
different.
Roxane and Marco yearn for each other. To live their love, they are prepared to brave all borders. They want to be stronger than the cultures, laws and miles that separate them. When they finally clear customs, their long-awaited reunion begins. Four seasons pass, from their first stirrings to their most dizzying commitments, sending the couple into the deepest recesses of their relationship. For the same story, two viewpoints, two continents, two voices thinking out loud and answering each other softly, telling and confusing each other in love and discord. The mixed couple's hopes are dashed.
With delicacy and lucidity, the Lyon-based Collectif Ildi! Eldi tells the story of a love haunted by colonial history, punctuated by the writing of Hakim Bah. Sophie Cattani, the striking performer in the films Tomboy and Polisse, once again tackles a burning social issue that is ferociously funny, fertile and liberating.
Part of the cultural season in Voltaire's homeland.
