Sougey Farm, the ancestor of Bresse farms! Travel back in time and experience life in the 1460s
The reputation of this magnificent half-timbered farmhouse reaches far beyond Bresse’s borders, due not only to the wealth of its architecture, but also to the personality of its previous owner, Maria Favier, storyteller in her spare time. Enjoy exploring the various buildings: one main building, two operational buildings, an oven, barn, stable and pigsty. Listed as a Historic Monument in 1946, it is a leading hub of culture and festivities with a busy calendar of shows, tastings and guided tours.
Sougey wooded countryside, a place where history, agriculture and nature converge…
Located right in the middle of wooded countryside, the landscape surrounding Sougey Farm is characteristic of the Bresse region, with its prairies, hedges and ancient buildings.
Sougey Farm shows us how our ancestors lived off what they found around them, in nature – Bresse’s wood and clay soils, for instance. Everything had a very specific use and aesthetics didn’t matter. The result is nonetheless rather pleasant – come and see for yourself!
