Snails.
Breeding of large grey snails (Helix Aspersa Maxima) since 2010 on the family farm in Servas between Bresse and Dombes. 250 000 snails put in pens out of which 150 000 are transformed in the year. The losses can represent 30% of the livestock.
From March to May: reproduction period
From May to September: breeding
From September to December: slaughter and processing in anticipation of the end-of-year celebrations.
The snails are kept in pens with natural vegetation and supplemented with cereals, limestone and vitamins. In winter, only the breeding stock and the young are kept in a room free of frost for their hibernation.
