Présentation

Located just outside of Lyon, Miribel offers a breath of fresh air with its vast park, huge lake and monumental Virgin Mary of Mas Rillier statue. A tranquil corner of Ain to meet up, breathe and admire the view. Take a moment to relax by the waterfront.

Whether you’re looking to play sport or relax, enjoy the great outdoors in Miribel Jonage

Miribel Jonage Grand Parc is an outdoor protected area on the banks of the Rhone and as much a resting place as hub of activity. With its sweeping wooded spaces, you can laze about away from the crowds, take a break between swims to picnic with your family on the grass, or – for a fully outdoor experience – you can even cycle here from Lyon!

If you’re looking to get active, there is golf, tennis, sailing, mountain biking and many more activities on offer at different sites within the 2,200-hectare park. There really is something for everyone to enjoy and to keep you coming back again and again!

The park is also known for the events that take place here throughout the seasons – from orienteering in February and egg hunts every April, to Woodstower festival in August and the Autumn festival.

A monumental statue watching over Miribel

For even more fresh air, a visit to the Virgin Mary of Mas Rillier is a must. Towering over the Grand Parc and the town of Miribel, the statue offers a viewpoint which embraces the city of Lyon and beyond. The concrete statue houses a small chapel and a staircase takes you to viewing platform at the top… after climbing up the 150 steps, of course!

Right next to the Virgin Mary is a belfry with a carillon of 50 bells, including one weighing over 2 tonnes! The bells are still used regularly today, including during the summer festival Swing Sous les Étoiles (‘Swing Beneath the Stars’).

“Great escape from the city…”

“This park provides a marvellous experience for both family, friends and couples. Everybody looks happy just doing nothing, taking advantage of lovely summer sunshine, enjoying water activities or simply escaping from the crowded city. If you are a tourist to Lyon and get tired of what the big city has to offer, this is for you.” – Reviewed 6th July 2016 by 豊 大
